Brother Skip grew up at Ketchum, Oklahoma and was baptized into First Baptist Church of Ketchum upon accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord at the age of ten. After completing an Associate of Arts Degree at Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College in Miami, Oklahoma (1969) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma (1971), he earned a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Oklahoma (1974).
While working as a Social Worker at Eastern State Hospital and attending First Baptist Church of Vinita, Brother Skip felt the Lord’s leading to pursue the call to be a Pastor that he had first felt in childhood. He recommitted his life to that call in 1989, was licensed to preach by FBC and was called to his first pastorate at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Miami, Oklahoma in 1991. He was called to be Pastor of Bunker Hill Baptist Church near Vinita in 1994 where he served until his call to join the staff at FBC Vinita in April 2008.
He and his wife Carol have two children and one grandchild. Their son Jeremy, wife Chenelle, and grandson Rylan live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Their daughter Courtney lives in Moore, Oklahoma.
Robert Sanders - Associate Pastor Minister of Outreach & Technology E-mail RobertBrother Robert Sanders grew up in Oklahoma City and accepted The Lord at the age of 7 while attending Liberty Baptist Church in OKC. He is a graduate of Western Heights High School and is currently working on his Bachelor of Technology Degree from Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. He has a beautiful wife {Melanie} who he has been married to for 21 years. He and his wife live in rural Vinita and have two sons Allan and Collin. Robert was ordained as a Deacon at FBC Vinita in 1992 and served as the Associate Pastor of White Oak Baptist Church for nearly 10 years before returning to Vinita First in February 2008 as Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Technology. Trey Moss was born in Oklahoma City in 1989. Shortly after that he was adopted by Rod and Lori Moss of Vinita Oklahoma and has been their best-looking son (only son) ever since. The Moss Family attended the Church of God in Vinita, where his grandpa previously was the pastor, until he was four years old when his family starting attending the First Baptist Church in Vinita in 1993. They have been active members ever since.
Trey was active in the children's and youth ministries until his graduation in May 2008. Trey then went to pursue a degree in Music Composition at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
Trey had always knew that the Lord had special plans for him just like all Gods children, but it wasn't until college that Trey began to desperately seek Gods will for his life. It was in his first semester in college that Trey began to have a deeper relationship with God that was previously unknown to him. It was in the deepening relationship that Trey started to ask God to give him an opportunity to serve Him.
Trey is overjoyed that his gracious God has answered his prayers, and given him an opportunity to serve him in a place that is near and dear to his heart, the youth ministry of First Baptist Church Vinita.
Trey wants the youth here at First Baptist to realize that God desires a deep personal relationship with him, and has a special plan for their life.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
-Romans 8:28
